our team

Mosaic is unique in many ways, but there are a couple things that many people ask about.  First, we are smaller by design, not by accident.  It is not our intention to limit growth, we are just more concerned about the type of growth.  We want to grow deep in our relationship with Jesus, with each other and with our city.  We think the best way to do that is by planting in various neighborhoods rather than by growing one large meeting.  Second, our staff is intentionally part-time.  We think one of the hindrances to rapid expansion and a reproducible model, is the need to pay full-time wages to pastoral staff.  In most countries, this is simply not possible, but here, in the USA, it is not only possible, it is expected!

We are super proud of our team, the sacrifice they make to be involved and the way they stay engaged with their city by working other jobs or being great moms!

Aaron Walters

Lead Pastor, Beautify, & Youth

Aaron is not only our Lead Pastor, involved with the Beautify Team & Youth dude, but he is also the founding Pastor of The Table Bellingham. Aaron is ordained in the Christian Reformed Church. He received a Master of Divinity from ACTS Seminaries and has served in various ministries outside The Table, including First Reformed Church (Lynden) and Faith Reformed Church (Lynden).
He also currently serves as a Chaplain for the Franklin Academy, because, why not have lots of irons in the fire?
Aaron and his wife Kate wrangle their three great kids and live in the Happy Valley neighborhood of Bellingham. They love road trips, bonfires, and other shenanigans.

Matt Atkins

Pastoral Care & Teaching

Matt is the founding Pastor of Mosaic Church and recently stepped back from the Lead Pastor role. Matt will continue to be involved in pastoral care, mentoring, and teaching as needed. Matt tells people all the time, "We just don't have any drama. at Mosaic". That doesn't mean that we aren't human or have no problems, it just means that we deal with those normal things without all the drama, and boy are we thankful!  Matt loves his role and the community of people that make up our unique little mosaic.
In addition to working with Mosaic, Matt is the Senior Financial Advisor with a private capital management company in Bellingham. Matt and his wife, Laura enjoy spending time with their family, serving their community, taking vacations to warm places, and working on their yard and garden. Matt is an avid golfer, loves fly fishing, and reads constantly.

Meredith Laplante

Connections & Godly Play

Meredith loves life, including but not limited to: her best friend and hilarious husband of almost 12 years, Donnie; her three creative, funny, intense, joyful, dramatic, expressive, loving children; learning and teaching; reading quality non-fiction and sometimes fiction; Brene Brown; sushi; the Bible; Pray-as-you-Go; Jazzercise; Latin; thinking about traveling again someday; re-framing terrible scenarios to make them not so terrible; riding bikes; jogging sometimes; planning to garden; and reading about minimalism.  She is lucky to work with someone who enjoys and is good at crafting, since she breaks out in hives upon stepping foot in a Michael's, and devotes a small amount of time to teaching Latin online.  Email her if you have questions about Godly Play, the children's program at Mosaic, or want to start learning Latin.

Tanya Biersdorff

Admin

Tanya brings organizational magic to how we connect, gather, and do life at Mosaic.
When she's not bringing order and beauty to our community, you'll find Tanya outside with her family (her husband, Kyle, and her two boys) on some sort of adventure--even if it's in the backyard. She also teaches English as a second language at our local community college.
