Our Rhythm of Eating

Take a few minutes to stop and think about what meals were like in your home as you were growing up. If you are still a young person, what it is like now? If you have your own kids, what is it like in your home? If you are an adult, whether single or married with no kids, what is it like for you now?

It would be interesting to go through the entire Bible and find out how many direct references there are about important events taking place (whether past, present or future) during what we would now call a “church service”. Maybe it would have been while they were in the temple, or tabernacle, or synagogue, but you get the point. Then, to compare that with how many important events take place while at a meal. My guess is that there would be no comparison.
