Advent 3

In our reading from Isaiah for this Third Sunday of Advent, we read...

"I will open up rivers for them on the high plateaus.

  I will give them fountains of water in the valleys.

I will fill the desert with pools of water.

  Rivers fed by springs will flow across the parched ground."

If that showed up in your devotional reading this week, you would probably have one of a few responses; close your Bible and get on with your day, look to the heavens and say, "Please, NO MOrRE RAIN", or make it a metaphor, spiritualize it, and then,... go on with your soggy day.

But, this is a literal promise, to literal people. It has nothing to do with Advent, and frankly, nothing to do with most of our daily lives. 

Or does it?
