The Widow of Zarapheth

At Mosaic, we use a kids curriculum called “Godly Play.” I think it’s a pretty awesome way to get our kids to “put themselves in” the biblical text. One my favorite Godly Play reflection questions is, “Where do you see yourself in the story?”

This is a question I want to ask you this Sunday with regards to 1 Kings 17, the story of Elijah and the widow of Zarephath. There are so many emotions wrapped up in this text: desperation, hope, despair, relief. I’m looking forward to exploring this passage with you, and invite you to read through it ahead of time and ask yourself, “Where do you see yourself in the story?”
