Jesus and Power: Matthew 5
I recently came across a quote on Instagram that has stuck with me:
"People speak of hope as if it's this delicate, fleeting thing, made of whispers and spider webs. It's not. Hope has dirt on her face, blood on her knuckles, cobblestone grit in her hair, and just spat out a tooth as she rises for another go." – @CrowsFault
As we close our series on power and Jesus, we return to the Beatitudes in Matthew 5. Although this sermon may feel familiar, it never fails to inspire hope—even when that hope comes through pain and resilience.
While the world adjusts to a new power center in Washington, D.C., Jesus invites us to a new perspective on God’s blessing and favor. This new way of living in God’s Kingdom, like hope itself, often involves suffering and finding the strength to rise again.
I invite you to join us in exploring this powerful truth.
