Jesus on Trial
Sep 22, 2024 • Aaron Walters
In John 18 and 19 we see a game of power being played. We see the power of Rome battling (politically) with the Jewish leaders. Both have their own objectives and both were pushing against the force of the other.
Also in this scene is Jesus, on trial. The all-powerful God, Jesus, is the object of their debate. And yet, He stands there humbly asserting His own authority, but not in the same manner as the other players. What objective did Jesus have in this moment, and why did He go about reaching that objective in the way He did?
I look forward to examining this passage with you this Sunday, as we continue our study of “Jesus and Power.” See you soon! ~Aaron
